Finnish wood firm adopts Trimble supply chain management
December 20, 2016
Harvestia, a major Finnish wood supply company, will implement Trimble's LogForce forestry transportation planning and execution software. LogForce is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) that provides logging and transportation contractors and forest companies with the ability to plan and manage transport within the raw materials supply chain.
LogForce is a key component of California-based Trimble's Connected Forest services, which manage the full raw materials lifecycle of planning, planting, growing, harvesting and transport.
"We welcome Harvestia as a customer and look forward to delivering a flexible timber transport solution that enables them to improve efficiencies and operations," said Ken Moen, general manager of Trimble's forestry division. "Harvestia's decision to adopt LogForce is a result of our collaboration with Teito to expand our joint go-to market capabilities and accelerate innovation in the growing Nordic forestry market for intelligent wood and fibre SaaS."
In April 2016, Tieto, the largest IT services company in the Nordics, began distributing Trimble's LogForce forestry transportation planning software and WoodForce planning control system software for harvesting operations in the Nordic forestry regions.
"Trimble's LogForce is an integrated part of our wood and fibre supply portfolio," said Jaakko Kuusisaari, director at Tieto. “Harvestia's rollout proves to us that the Nordic forestry market is ready to take the next step towards vertical SaaS that optimised for the industry.”
Harvestia is a wood supply company, organising the procurement, harvesting and delivery of wood and other forest products to users in the paper, sawmill, energy and biofuel sectors. The company takes responsibility for all aspects of the wood supply chain, including negotiating procurement with forest owners, harvesting and replanting of forest land, storing and management of harvested wood inventories and delivery logistics. In addition to supplying its industrial partners, it has a growing business supplying wood to independent sawmills and biomass to energy and biofuel companies.
Trimble's forestry division provides land, forest and fibre management to improve the productivity and operations for some of the world's most recognised integrated forest product companies, forest land owners, timberland investment, conservation, state and federal departments as well as international food processing companies involved in environmental, social and economic land management.
