Start-up releases flagship asset tracking platform
January 22, 2019
Virginia start-up Syndesy Technologies, a product and engineering firm focused on the IoT, has released its flagship product, the Syntrac PL1, a 4G LTE Cat 1 and 3G HSPA communications and tracking development platform.
This is the first in a series of products that will consist of development boards, personal trackers, asset trackers and vehicle trackers. The devices incorporate power-saving algorithms to last longer on a single battery charge
The products are FCC-, PTCRB- and carrier-certified as end devices and are available as finished, ready-to-use products or as boards that can be integrated into other products for communications and location services.
The PL1 uses multi-GNSS satellite navigation technology, supporting in parallel GPS, Glonass, Galileo, Beidou and QZSS. It features 3G fallback in North America. The company plans to introduce variants of the family for Cat M1 and NB IoT networks, as well as global cellular coverage.
Syndesy will also offer a professional services group that will deliver customisations to meet customer requirements. Industrial design, electrical and software engineering are some of the value-added services the company has to offer to its customers.
"Companies are quickly realising that they need to incorporate wireless connectivity into virtually all of their products to capitalise on the internet of things," said Bill Molesworth, Syndesy's executive vice president of sales and marketing. "Syndesy was founded to address the overwhelming need to enable that wireless connectivity. With our certified board and finished trackers, it is now possible for our customers to quickly get to market with a connected device, mitigating the tremendous costs associated with industry regulatory approvals and carrier certifications."
Based in Ashburn, Virginia, Syndesy Technologies was founded by a team of engineers and designers with a combined industry experience of over 100 years.
"We succeeded in developing tracking devices with the highest level of reliability," said Colleen Lingley-Papadopoulos, co-founder and CTO. "With our background in fault-tolerant systems and sophisticated embedded firmware development, our customers can expect very robust devices, unlike some overseas imports."
