SAP Ariba helps NTT Data monitor global shipments
September 13, 2016
Japanese system integration company NTT Data is to use SAP Ariba’s platform to let buyers connected to the Ariba Network monitor global shipments in real time. This will be done through a portal that is continually refreshed with information on the status of each shipment and can provide proactive notification of delays.
Using this, buyers can gain clear visibility into potential supply chain disruptions and mitigate their impact.
Commerce today is more global than ever, and transportation and logistics have become increasingly complicated, as getting things from point A to B now typically spans several continents and involves several providers. NTT Data is out to simplify this process by teaming with SAP Ariba.
“Increased regulation, globalisation and changing competitive boundaries are redefining shipping and logistics as we know it, and in many cases creating supply risk,” said Bhalchandra Bhosale, senior vice president at NTT Data. “In leveraging SAP Ariba’s open partner ecosystem, NTT Data can deliver innovation through which supply chain organisations can minimise this risk and optimise their business outcomes.”
The open partner ecosystem is designed to drive the speed and innovation that companies need to do business in today’s digital economy by providing a secure platform from which companies can create dynamic business services and quickly deliver them to customers around the world.
Companies can use standards based open APIs to extend SAP Ariba services and take advantage of pre-built products made available by SAP Ariba partners. They can also access self-service capabilities to create unique experiences.
“SAP Ariba is committed to delivering game-changing innovations that transform procurement and fundamentally change the way that business is done,” said Dinesh Shahane, chief technology officer of California-based SAP Ariba. “Through our open partner ecosystem, we can not only deliver these innovations faster, but empower our partners like NTT Data to deliver new commerce services that drive value for their organisations, their customers and anyone connected to the Ariba Network.”
NTT Data, a subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph & Telephone, is a business and IT services provider with 80,000 professionals based in over 40 countries.
