M2M player Raco Wireless is to distribute fleet-management services from satellite operator Inmarsat in the Latin American market.

The MVNO has announced that it will support Inmarsat’s IsatData Pro fleet-management services, allowing customers to benefit from both satellite and terrestrial connectivity.

Raco Wireless (Cincinnati, OH, USA) says it will integrate the service into its Omega Management Suite (OMS) – a cloud-based dashboard that includes tools for device management.

“Satellite connectivity services are swiftly becoming an essential component within the expanding M2M market, enabling solution providers to extend the reach and resilience of their M2M networks to virtually any region on Earth,” said Joel Schroeder, the director of M2M strategy and market development within Inmarsat’s enterprise business unit.

“RacoWireless represents a new generation of partner for Inmarsat [London, UK]; one that brings M2M expertise into the sales channel and provides access to new market segments which have not traditionally deployed satellite connectivity as part of their M2M offering,” he added. “With RacoWireless’ outstanding platform and customer support, satellite services are now opened up to virtually any solutions and service provider, regardless of size.”

Raco Wireless says the addition of the Inmarsat service will give OMS partners coverage where and when they most need it.

“The relationship with Inmarsat enables our partners to extend the reach of their network to sites outside the scope of their existing terrestrial network partners, without the need to invest in additional infrastructure,” said John Horn, Raco’s chief executive. “It also allows for the deployment of a truly global M2M solution through a single platform.”

Raco Wireless says it will integrate Inmarsat’s M2M service with its portfolio in due course.
