Passavant Area Hospital in Illinois has become the first hospital to go live with Advanced ICU Care’s telemetry service, in which certified electrocardiogram (ECG) technicians remotely monitor at-risk cardiac patients round the clock.
Advanced ICU Care is a US provider of high-acuity telemedicine services. Its certified technicians use telemetry monitoring systems that enable remote patient observation to provide real-time oversight of patients who have been identified as high-risk for cardiac events.
“Our new telemetry partnership with Advanced ICU Care enhances our ability to provide excellent care through optimal delivery,” said Harry Schmidt, Passavant president and CEO. “Our telemetry patients are vigilantly monitored around the clock, enabling our bedside nurses to focus their time on delivering the highest quality of patient care while providing the flexibility to maintain that high level of care independent of fluctuations in census.”
The remote telemetry technicians monitor patients’ heart functions for variances, review alerts and, when clinically appropriate, engage bedside physicians and nurses to intervene when patients require clinical attention. Identification of warning indicators and urgent situations by the telemetry technician can support earlier intervention by bedside clinicians.
“It has been a pleasure working with Passavant’s hospital and clinical leadership teams to launch the telemetry partnership,” said Lou Silverman, CEO of Advanced ICU Care. “We are committed to a care-focused, service-oriented partnership and will work closely together to support the delivery of exceptional patient care.”
The telemetry service extends Advanced ICU Care’s clinical services portfolio, drawing upon the company’s more than ten years of experience in high-acuity telehealth and remote patient monitoring.
“We are developing opportunities with additional hospitals throughout the United States to enhance their use of telemetry monitoring,” said Gian Cavallini, vice president of Advanced ICU Care. “Passavant has been the ideal collaborative partner – extremely engaged and deeply committed to and clear in their focus of delivering the best in patient care.”
Advanced ICU Care serves more than 65 hospitals in over 24 states. It is a technology-enabled clinical services provider that employs tele-technology, US board-certified intensivists, multiple dedicated telecare delivery centres, and an implementation and client service approach to the benefit of patients, families, providers and hospitals.
Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Illinois, has been providing healthcare services to the residents of Morgan, Cass, Greene, Scott, Macoupin counties, and portions of Brown and northern Pike counties in West Central Illinois since 1875. Licensed for 93 patient beds, it is staffed by 1000 full and part-time employees, and an active medical staff of 70 physicians.
