LTI Trucking Services, a truckload carrier and full-service logistics company based in Missouri, has selected Orbcomm to provide it cold-chain telematics service to track, monitor and control its fleet of refrigerated trailers.
New Jersey-based Orbcomm will provide cellular connectivity, hardware, and wireless fuel and door sensor, along with a web-based reporting platform for fleet management. LTI will use the cold-chain telematics to provide temperature, fuel management and maintenance data for its refrigerated trailer fleet transporting perishable food, beverage and confectionary.
LTI will integrate the data with its proprietary back-office platform to optimise asset use and compliance with the FDA’s FSMA food safety modernisation act.
“Our impressive customer portfolio and market leadership in refrigerated transportation is continuing to expand significantly as leading trucking companies like LTI are making Orbcomm’s IoT technology part of their core strategy to improve fleet and load visibility, maintain temperature requirements, automate processes and comply with FSMA regulations,” said Marc Eisenberg, Orbcomm’s chief executive officer. “Orbcomm’s premier cold chain monitoring provides LTI with a strong competitive advantage that helps to ensure successful, efficient operations for every shipment moving along the supply chain.”
Orbcomm’s service also integrates closely with the McLeod Loadmaster transportation management platform. The Loadmaster two-way interface enables LTI to capture near real-time trailer data, including operational condition and GPS position, through one system.
“There is increasing demand from our customers to ensure quick delivery times, real-time visibility of shipment status and location, and proof of product integrity,” said Phil Hamel, chief operating officer of LTI Trucking Services. “Orbcomm offers the most robust solution with the best end-to-end service on the market today to meet our customers’ needs, and we look forward to seeing the additional RoI benefits in fuel savings, improved asset utilisation and reduced claims once we deploy their solution across our entire fleet.”
LTI Trucking Services is installing the Orbcomm service and expects to complete full fleet deployment in the first quarter of 2018.
