Nippon Express establishes Singapore global logistics innovation centre

Nippon Express has established a new team in Singapore to collaborate with non-Japanese global customers and develop new logistics technologies and solutions to meet their evolving needs. The new Global Logistics Innovation Centre (GLIC) has already commenced business and aims to conduct market research and business development geared towards winning global non-Japanese business.
Nippon Express is responding to a trend it has identified for global non-Japanese companies in recent years to delegate increasing authority away from head office to regional headquarters. According to Nippon Express, this has led to an increased need to cater not only to their corporate headquarters but also to their regional headquarters to fully understand customer needs.
The company says that GLIC will seek out new business opportunities, analyse clients' business scope, and investigate and develop logistics systems; all with an aim to strengthening the sales strategy.
The new centre is supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board.
