Marken, Green Cross LabCell partner to develop RFID life sciences shipment monitoring

Patient-centric life sciences supply chain provider Marken is partnering with pathological diagnostics specialist Green Cross LabCell to develop IoT and RFID based life science logistics and shipment monitoring, both in Korea and globally.

Marken's network of offices and depots will enable them to work closely with Green Cross to build on and expand services around RFID and GPS technology to improve constant monitoring of biological shipments. Both companies are planning areas of cooperation around joint logistics, both in Korea and internationally.

Marken was the only logistics company granted permission by the Korean Government to deliver the first direct to patient shipment of clinical drug product in Korea during the outbreak of Middle East Respiratory System (MERS). This shipment allowed many patients in South Korea to continue receiving their clinical trial drugs.

Green Cross LabCell specialises in pathological diagnostics, biological sample and infectious substance shipments. These include Zika, Anti-HCV, Tuberculosis, and MERS. The company serves all the government and private sector hospitals in Korea.

Green Cross LabCell developed its own smart tag with RFID monitoring system which is on based on IoT. The Green Cross LabCell smart tag is able to track Temperature, GPS, Shock (Vibration) in real time for each consignment.

According to the partnership agreement, Green Cross LabCell's RFID technology will be available for Marken customers and the two companies plan to expand the RFID technology as well as overseas global services.

Through this partnership, Green Cross can extend its service offering from clients in Korea to the global market via Marken. The partnership offers numerous opportunities including joint sales and operations, the development of RFID technology and depot development."
