Jupiter Medical Center in Florida is making it easier for patients to receive convenient medical care with the launch of the Care Anywhere telehealth platform.
A not-for-profit 327-bed regional medical centre, Jupiter Medical Center has 207 private acute-care hospital beds and 120 long-term care, sub-acute rehabilitation and hospice beds.
“At Jupiter Medical Center, our top priority is caring for the health and wellness of our entire community, at all stages of life and at all points on the health continuum,” said John Couris, Jupiter Medical Center president and chief executive officer. “Care Anywhere allows us to continue to meet this objective by providing access to high-quality, affordable care when and where our community needs it.”
Care Anywhere is a private, secure and easy way for anyone to get convenient, cost-effective and immediate medical care anywhere from home, the office or any other location using a smartphone, tablet or computer. Through the platform, a medical provider interviews each patient and makes a diagnosis, much the same way he or she would in a traditional urgent care visit. Providers can treat many common conditions or illnesses, such as colds, fever, rash, stomach flu, sinus infections and pink eye, as well as prescribe medications.
Accessing Care Anywhere is simple. Users download the Care Anywhere app for Apple OS or Android mobile devices or visit the Care Anywhere web site. Once patients have downloaded the app or logged into the web site, it takes just a few minutes to begin a virtual visit with a provider. A typical visit lasts about ten minutes.
“In today’s busy world, there are times when getting to the doctor’s office just isn’t possible – either it is after office hours or you’re simply unable to make the trip,” said Judy Magalhaes, Jupiter Medical Center’s vice president of ambulatory services. “As our neighbours continue to seek more convenient, cost-effective and integrated health care options, Jupiter Medical Center is here to meet their needs with a menu of convenient care options.”
Care Anywhere represents the latest component to Jupiter Medical Center’s convenient care offerings, which includes three urgent care facilities. All centres offer complete urgent care health services, including on-site laboratory testing and x-rays to diagnose and treat urgent medical conditions and minor trauma. Services to support healthier living, such as flu shots, lab services, travel medicine, pre-employment testing or preoperative clearance, are also available.
After a video visit, if it is determined patients need additional medical treatment, Care Anywhere can refer them to a specialist, maintaining a continuum of convenience, care and service.
Founded in 1979, Jupiter Medical Center has approximately 1600 team members, 615 physicians and 640 volunteers.
