Healthcare supplies company Johnson & Johnson is partnering with Chinese hardware investor and accelerator HAX to sponsor consumer healthcare technology start-ups. The collaboration is focused on nurturing start-ups with technologies in areas of interest to Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc., including skin care, baby care, over the counter, wound care, oral care and feminine care.

Applicants will be co-selected by HAX and Johnson & Johnson Innovation as part of their efforts to identify for development novel consumer healthcare solutions aligned with Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc.’s portfolio.

HAX is providing the start-ups with early-stage seed funding and office space for a finite period in addition to mentoring, education and networking in exchange for equity. Selected companies to the health-tech track will also receive mentorship in business development and commercialisation from Johnson & Johnson Innovation executives to accelerate the potential commercialisation of these products.

Applicants are required to have developed a proof-of concept prototype and be ready to relocate to Shenzhen for the duration of the program.

The HAX staff and acceleration environment will provide support in the areas of strategy, all aspects of prototyping, sourcing, supply chain, marketing, PR and more. The peer-learning from other participants and graduates also contributes invaluable expertise and long-term relationships.
