US food giant Kraft Heinz is adopting real-time supply chain tracking and analytics to predict shipment arrival times, track load temperatures and analyse transportation operations.
The technology comes from FourKites, a Chicago-based supply chain visibility and predictive analytics platform with a network of more than four million GPS-connected assets. It is providing real-time freight tracking and monitoring across the supply chain.
As the fifth largest food and beverage company in the world, Kraft Heinz needed a global enterprise-grade visibility and temperature monitoring platform that could deliver predictive insights, and be implemented quickly.
"As an organisation dedicated to the sustainable health of our people, our planet and our company, it is critical that our products are delivered on time and transported at the right temperatures," said Larry Breisinger, head of transportation in North America for Kraft Heinz. “So we partnered with FourKites, the market-leader in supply chain visibility and predictive analytics, to continue achieving those objectives. We will use FourKites to gain unprecedented visibility into when each shipment will arrive, and be able to proactively monitor load temperatures to ensure high quality. By doing so, we will strengthen our customer relationships and optimise supply chain operations."
FourKites is providing real-time tracking and predictive arrival times across transportation modes for Kraft Heinz, relaying GPS data on shipments moving by truck, train and parcel. Kraft Heinz is also using temperature tracking to monitor shipment temperatures in real time.
With FourKites' analytics, Kraft Heinz will be able to identify insights on key business drivers such as dwell times at delivery locations, and customer, carrier and lane analytics to drive decisions proactively.
"In addition to serving as one of the foremost leaders in the food and beverage industry, Kraft Heinz is a recognised standard-bearer in operational excellence," said Mathew Elenjickal, founder and CEO of FourKites. "We are excited that Kraft Heinz has decided to partner with us to use our best-in-class location and temperature tracking technology as well as our market-leading supply chain analytics and intelligence tools."
With a network of more than four million GPS and ELD devices, FourKites covers all modes, including ocean, rail, parcel and over-the-road. The platform is optimised for mobile and equipped with end-to-end security.
