British Gas to explain UK smart meter roll out at logistics conference
February 18, 2015
Glyn Williams, head of supply chain at utility British Gas, plans to discuss the supply chain strategy behind the nationwide roll out of smart meters at the Logistics & Supply Chain Conference in London on March 18 and 19, 2015.
The roll out plans have earned British Gas the overall award in the 2014 European Supply Chain Excellence Awards. It will involve visits to around 30 million homes and small business, installing over 50 million meters by 2020.
Also at the conference, Michael Mychajluk, supply chain manager at Jaguar Land Rover, will look at whether there should be industry specific roadmaps to help the UK supply chain meet significant increases in demand. Bernard Molloy, director of global industrial logistics at Unipart Logistics, will talk about global agility in complex supply chains.
The supply chain for the UK retail industry will come under the spotlight with presentations from the Co-operative and Sainsbury’s. Iain Bartholomew, head of supply chain, and Jonathan Scott, import operations manager, will speak for Sainsbury’s, while the Co-operative will be represented by Justin Kirkhope, project manager for logistics strategy.
