A cargo management pilot project at a major Canadian international airport is using French company Adveez’s IoT asset tracking module on the Eleven-X LoRa network. The aim is for GPS tracking of cargo handling assets to provide rapid and easy location of in-motion equipment, enabling faster loading and unloading of airline cargo.
Eleven-X, a contributing member of the LoRa Alliance, has an LPWAN that is claimed to be Canada’s first and only public coast-to-coast network supporting the use of low cost sensors and devices for smart city and enterprise IoT applications.
“Deployment of our asset tracking on the Eleven-X network will enable airlines to achieve faster turnaround times resulting in reduced delays, providing cost savings related to many aspects of cargo management,” said Karim Ben Dhia, CEO at Adveez. “Adveez plans to mirror the success of current deployments in Europe and the USA in Canada now that we have Eleven-X as our network provider.”
LoRaWan IoT asset tracking from Adveez has been deployed at airports across the world enabling location management of in-motion assets to improve operational efficiencies. When deployed using LoRaWan, the asset tracking technology also lends itself to other industry sectors from construction to smart city asset management programmes.
“Eleven-X is very pleased to support the Adveez pilot for asset tracking at the Canadian airport since it broadens the applications currently operating on our network,” said Dan Mathers, president and CEO of Eleven-X. “Having an asset tracking partner such as Adveez, as well as other LoRa IoT partners, will further accelerate customer adoption of LoRa technology across Canada.”
Supporting the use of low cost battery powered sensors, the Eleven-X network addresses IoT applications where requirements include wireless connectivity and devices that require long battery life, no maintenance and a low total cost of ownership.
“We’re pleased to partner with Eleven-X, who provide the network infrastructure and coverage for our LoRaWan IoT asset tracking module rollout in Canada,” said Dhia. “Our goal is to provide the best asset tracking for airports and other major industry sectors across Canada. Having a partner such as Eleven-X support our programme provides us with an industry-leading network provider who has the technical expertise to ensure a successful rollout.”
Adveez designs and manufactures data capture and hands-free access control hardware and software used in asset tracking and security, worker and resident safety, and commercial security. The company is headquartered in Toulouse, France, with an office in Phoenix, Arizona.
