Chinese equipment maker Huawei says its new MC323 embedded module has been certified on the cellular network of Aeris Communications for use with M2M applications.

The ultra-compact size of the device is said to make it ideal for use with services such as smart metering, mobile payments and industrial routers.

Huawei (Shenzhen, China) says it comes with a number of other features and specifications that make it an ideal platform for M2M applications.

For one thing, it can operate in extreme temperatures, and it also allows interchangeable solutions between the CDMA 1x networking standard and GSM/GPRS technology.

“Just as Huawei is a leader in the ICT industry, Aeris [Santa Clara, CA, USA] has been a leader in shaping and driving industry innovation and standards in the M2M market,” said Stephen Blackburn, director of sales engineering for Aeris. “To ensure that ongoing leadership, we partner with the most innovative companies in the industry like Huawei, to deliver reliable connectivity and excellent customer service.”

Huawei is one of a number of prominent hardware players targeting the IoT and M2M markets in the expectation of soaring demand in the years ahead.

It has already formed partnerships with a number of M2M solutions providers, including Numerex, Novotech and Embedded Works, so that it can provide customers with specialized local support, it says.
