Broadcom and Connect One collaborate on M2M Wifi modules

Israel-based Connect One has collaborated with Broadcom to develop Wifi modules for the M2M and IoT market.
The combination of Broadcom’s Wiced Wifi system-on-chip (SoC) and Connect One’s iChip internet controller is said to provide functionality and ease of integration to many applications in home automation, medical, security, industrial control, smart grid, asset management and point of sale.

Building on its internet protocols, security, management and simple API, Connect One’s G2 product line is claimed to let manufacturers connect, secure and manage IoT products over the internet in just a couple of hours. The G2 modules use Broadcom’s BCM43362 Wifi SoC, 802.11b/g/n mac and baseband functionality for IoT connectivity.
The combination provides multiple hardware interfaces, firmware and a suite of secure internet protocols for Wifi client mode and up to eight Wifi users in router or access-point modes. Designers gain immediate, full-featured connectivity without any Wifi driver development or porting, thereby reducing project development difficulties and time to market.

The G2 includes features and interfaces required for M2M and IoT product designs, and stand-alone modes of operation such as routing, access point and Ethernet-to-Wifi bridge.
The modules will make their public debut at Embedded World in Nuremberg later this month.
