Supply chain management specialists CIMC and Globe Tracker have announced a strategic partnership to develop asset management services for the container shipping, trucking, railway and logistics industries.
CIMC (Shenzhen, China) says they will mainly target dry bulk and refrigerated containers, but also cover tanker containers, trucks, truck trailers, railways cars and other products that could benefit from monitoring and global tracking technologies.
Under the arrangement, CIMC will become an original equipment manufacturer of Global Tracker’s tracking, monitoring and remote asset management equipment.
The Chinese company will promote and sell services and equipment under its own CIMC brand.
CIMC was originally focused on the market for smart containers and trucks but has recently expanded to cover the entire supply chain and all types of logistics equipment, the company said.
Based in Denmark, Globe Tracker (Copenhagen) opened a development center in Beijing in 2007 and now has an office and development center in Qingdao.
The company specializes in providing data sharing, data analytics and global asset tracking and monitoring services and equipment.
CIMC and Globe Tracker believe their partnership will spur innovation in the tracking sector and help to reduce capital expenditure associated with the implementation of current after-market tracking solutions.
By integrating tracking technology into the container equipment at the production level, they also hope to reduce installation costs and facilitate take-up of the technology.
