Pennsylvania based personal emergency response specialist Connect America has acquired Home Buddy LLC, the Wichita based provider of home alarms for the elderly and for those with chronic and long term health conditions. The acquisition marks an expansion by Connect America into the central United States.

Home Buddy is the fifth company in the United States to be acquired by Connect America's Healthcare Division over the past two years. Home Buddy will continue to operate from its current location in Kansas. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

The Healthcare Division of Connect America markets its medical alert and mobile alert products to home healthcare agencies, Medicaid agencies, hospitals, drugstore chains, and managed care organisations throughout the country.

Subscribers can choose from Connect America's standard land line PERS system, a mobile system that needs no land line, or a mobile/GPS-based system for users both at home and on the move.

Connect America also offers a continuing care solution, including tele-health services, remote patient monitoring, and medication dispensing systems.

"Connect America has earned the trust of healthcare professionals nationwide looking to integrate personal emergency response services as a valuable extension to their own, so we are very pleased to say we are now part of the Connect America family," said Matt Graham, Co-Founder, Home Buddy, LLC. "The company has earned an A+ rating from the BBB and a reputation for cutting-edge connected care technologies that are second to none in the industry. We are confident they will continue to deliver the very best home healthcare services and support to our customers."

"Our Healthcare Division continues to see rapid growth driven by regional providers who are looking to bring additional services and support to their customers, and who see the need for market consolidation in home healthcare and connected care services," said Richard Brooks, President, Connect America's Healthcare Division. "The addition of Home Buddy will expand the presence of Connect America's Healthcare Division in the central U.S. while bringing proven solutions to those who desire a best-in-class connected care experience."
