CalAmp is supplying customised telematics tracking devices and systems management technology for California-based Trimble's field service management (FSM) vehicle and asset monitoring equipment.

Trimble will focus on the value-add fleet management, work management, diagnostics, driver safety and mobility software and cloud-services that enable organisations to improve efficiency and productivity. The Trimble products let fleet managers and equipment dealers locate and monitor the health and use of their vehicles and equipment, and proactively manage maintenance.

The CalAmp devices are simple to install and its Peg programmable event generator and Puls programming, update and logistics system enable more customisation and easier device management. This technology improves field service response time by tracking vehicle and equipment location to deploy service technicians.

"Trimble chose to partner with CalAmp to strengthen our FSM portfolio," said John Cameron, general manager of Trimble's FSM division. "Working together, CalAmp will deliver an industry-leading telematics device and Trimble will focus on field service management software technology. The end goal is to deliver a complete solution to transform work processes and efficiency for our customers."

In addition, the Trimble products incorporate equipment warnings and diagnostic information to improve first-time fix rates and increase user satisfaction. Equipment dealers and fleet managers can benefit from the integration of Trimble's products to improve their service and maintenance workflows and business systems.

"We are excited to support Trimble with their telematics product offerings in the field service market," said Justin Schmid, senior vice president at CalAmp. “Our best-in-class telematics devices and device management systems are designed to provide high-value asset tracking and deliver critical vehicle data in real time to support a wide array of applications. We look forward to working closely with Trimble to develop custom solutions that meet the growing market demand in fleet and asset management.”

CalAmp is headquartered in Irvine, California and has been publicly traded since 1983. Trimble's FSM division provides visibility into field and fleet operations so businesses can streamline efficiency and increase productivity.
