Billion and Intraix partner on Singapore energy management project
June 28, 2016
Billion Electric, a Taiwanese provider of smart city and IoT services, has joined forces with Intraix, a Singaporean tech start-up dedicated to developing smart home energy management applications, to help Singapore’s National Environment Agency (NEA) facilitate the national policy of restricting carbon emission on home appliances through effective intelligent energy management.
A total of 1500 of Billion’s smart meters (SG3015) and 700 of its smart IoT gateways (SG6200NXL) have been deployed for a Singaporean energy metering project that started last year. The project was initiated by the NEA with the goal to acquire an in-depth understanding of electricity distribution within a household environment by monitoring the power consumption and the percentage of electricity supplied to different home appliances such as air-conditioners, refrigerators and lighting.
The SG3015 and SG6200NXL can transform energy consumption into readable data and provide analytic reports based on current and historical usage trends. The SG6200NXL can support multiple Zigbee, PLC and RS485 devices concurrently and serve as a hub enabling IoT communications in small-to-medium commercial and industrial applications with availability of environmental sensor integration and IO controls.
Through the combination of Intraix's Klug mobile app, smart meters and IoT gateways, home users can enable remote control through a smartphone app with advanced scheduling based on different times and dates. Central administrators can distantly track the energy usage activities and the productivity of home appliances. Home users can be notified of any abnormal event such as equipment malfunctions and excess power instantly through an SMS or email to identify the fundamental roots of power failures.
“Our cooperation started in 2011 when Intraix was sourcing for high quality products to leverage and build its Klug Home solution,” said Jason Liao, product manager of Billion Electric. “Intraix was exhibiting at the Innovex hall during Computex 2016 and invited to a personal interview talking about their experience using Taiwanese products. Together we can ensure each electricity expense is used at the right place and the right time to optimise power efficiency and further enhance a smart living environment.”
