Taiwanese embedded computer brings M2M to refineries

An embedded computer has been launched by Taiwan-based Axiomtek to bring M2M and IoT services to harsh environments such as refineries, outdoor electricity distribution systems, petrol stations and power plants.
 
The RBox510-6Com is a Din-rail fanless embedded PC that uses Intel’s Atom E3827 dual-core processorat 1.75GHz and 4Gbyte DDR3L of onboard memory. It has a full rugged industrial design.
 
“The Axiomtek RBox510-6Com is set out to be a comprehensive computing and communication embedded solution, and comes with the smart monitoring software package, AXView 2.0, featuring SNMP, MQTT, Modbus, SNMP Trap and email support for industrial secured internet of things management,” said Maxineh Hsieh, product manager of Axiomtek’s product marketing division. “This intelligent Din-rail robust embedded system is ideal for both indoor and outdoor industrial applications such as power plant automation, facility monitoring systems, intelligent transportation systems and much more, bringing unlimited business opportunities.”
 
Communications include dual isolated gigabit lans, four isolated RS232, 422 or 485 ports, two RS232, 422 or 485 ports, one isolated DIO (eight in and eight out) port, front-facing LED indicators, 12 to 48V DC power input with terminal block, and three full-sized Mini cards for 3G, GPRS and Wifi connections. It can operate from -40 to +70ËšC and is said to be easy to install and maintain.
 
The smart embedded platform suits space concerned, remote, IoT, M2M and harsh environments such as power plants, outdoor electricity distribution systems, gas stations, refineries, mine control rooms and any other mission-critical applications.
 
The robust industrial grade computer has passed heavy industrial CE, FCC part 18 and UL certifications, and environment test for IEC60068-2-6, IEC60068-2-27 and IEC60068-2-32, and pre-tested EN50121-4 for railway applications. Onboard processor, memory and RTC battery and Sata SSD support make the box computer suitable for high vibration environments.
 
The AXView 2.0 monitoring software package lets users build their own management systems; it contains various easy-to-use management utilities, agent services and libraries.
