Amazon has introduced India’s first integrated payments and logistics offering for e-commerce web sites in the country. With this offering, brands and businesses that want to sell through their own web site, can use Amazon for order management, delivery and fulfilment.
“Brands and businesses are looking to convert their static web sites into digital storefronts and tap into the growing base of online shoppers in the country,”said Amit Agarwal, vice president and country manager for Amazon in India. “We have made it simple and easy for them to outsource their payments and fulfilment processes and enabled them to focus on their core business. Amazon is committed to transforming the way India buys and sells and we are always looking for ways to help businesses leverage India’s growing digital economy.”
The integrated offering allows businesses to scale and grow their business at low operational costs by leveraging Amazon’s investments in payments, logistics, transportation and customer service. Through this offering, sellers and brands can enable buyers on their web site to use their Amazon account, pay through a wide variety of payment methods including CoD (cash on delivery) and get their products delivered using Amazon’s delivery infrastructure.
Upon receiving an order from a customer, merchants will schedule a pick-up of the order by an Amazon delivery associate. The associate will pick up the package from the merchant’s doorstep and deliver it to the customer.
"We are excited with the response that we have got from customers for Pay with Amazon, said Srinivas Rao, general manager for Amazon in India. “We are now taking this a step further by integrating Amazon’s fulfilment services. E-commerce web sites can now offer their customers across India a delightful experience as well as grow their business online backed by the trust and convenience that these services by Amazon offer.”
Amazon says its aim is to help merchants grow their online business by increasing conversions and reducing fraud, resulting in an increase in new customer acquisitions. Buyers on these e-commerce web sites that accept Pay with Amazon can use payment methods stored in their Amazon account to pay for goods.
